    The Best Tanger Outlets Find

It’s officially spring and here we are with a coat post. If you live in the Midwest, you know the struggle. Warmer weather almost always feels so close, yet so far away this time of year.

The coat I’d been wearing had seen better days, so I needed a new one to carry me through the rest of winter and the chilly first few weeks of spring. This time around, I wanted to buy myself a nice coat that would stand the test of time, instead of one that falls apart after one season.

When Tanger Outlets invited me to spend some time with them a couple weeks ago, I knew it was the perfect opportunity to find the coat I’d been searching for. I’m also so glad I waited until the end of the season, because the one I found was on major sale. AND you’re bound to find better deals at the outlets anyway (seriously, the best deals). And the Tanger team made the entire experience so enjoyable — from the delicious snacks to the thoughtful goodie bags. It was such a treat, and I can’t wait to go back. Scroll to the bottom of this post for more photos from the shopping trip! In the meantime, say hello to my little friend:

As much as I’m ready for warmer weather to be here, I won’t lie, I’m really enjoying wearing this coat. And I’m not sure I’m ready to pack her away just yet.

My New Favorite Budget-Friendly Red Blouse

It’s been awhile since I’ve checked in with you last. How are you? Anything new? I’ll be spending the night packing for our trip to NYC. We leave Thursday morning (pending the crazy snow storm), along with a bunch of our college friends, to watch Xavier play in the Big East tournament.

I love New York – there’s always something new to discover. And speaking of that, if you have any recommendations, leave them here in the comments! I’m always up for exploring.Budget-Friendly Red Blouse | Natalie Was Here | Fashion Blog

Now, let’s talk about my favorite red blouse…

If you follow me on Instagram, you might have seen me post about this blouse from SheIn. I’ve worn it a lot already and it’s definitely coming in my suitcase. Blouses are great for traveling – they’re so versatile and easy. I love pairing mine with jeans. Or, if I’m feeling like dressing it up a bit, I usually reach for a skirt, tights and heeled boots.Budget-Friendly Red Blouse | Natalie Was Here | Fashion Blog

The Best Budget-Friendly Blouses to Wear this Winter

Ah, winter. Here we are. The weather in Ohio is just downright COLD, and if you live somewhere where the temps drop during this time of year, I know I’m just preaching to the choir. Nine degrees is no joke. If you have any good coat recommendations, help a girl out!

In the meantime, let’s talk about blouses. Because that’s probably why you’re here. I love to stock my closet with pretty patterned blouses to wear to work and on the weekends. So today, I rounded up some of my favorites. And an added bonus? They’re all under $100.

This is the Sweater to Wear When you have “Nothing to Wear”

The Cozy Sweater to Wear When You Have Nothing to Wear | Natalie Was Here | Lifestyle Blog

Sweater: Nordstrom | Jeans: Zara | Heels: Nasty Gal (love this blue print!) | Bag: Rebecca Minkoff (30% off!)

As much as I love dressing up for the holidays, sometimes I just want to ditch the dress and reach for a classic, comfortable combo instead. This cozy sweater was a Christmas gift from my parents, and I freakin’ LOVE it. It’s so soft and perfect for pairing with high waisted jeans like these.

I mean, it literally goes with anything and everything (like these festive heels!).

Because let’s be honest, we all have those days where we find ourselves standing in front of our fully stocked closets, feeling like we have nothing to wear. I know you’ve been there. I’ve been there, too. And that’s why classic pieces are so important. A simple black sweater like this baby can be dressed up or dressed down.

Thanks for tuning in, as always! I’m hanging out with my family in Cincinnati for another day and then it’s back to Columbus before I head to Florida on Thursday with Fritz and his family. And you better believe my trusty black sweater will find its way in my suitcase.

I can’t wait to ring in 2018 on the beach. See ya next year, snow!

Styling a Wrap Dress + 36 Affordable Options to Wear Right Now

How to Style a Wrap Dress | Natalie Was Here | Fashion and Lifestyle Blog

I’m all for all things oversized — boyfriend jeans, extra roomy sweaters and flowy dresses. But if you’re looking for a style of dress that is universally flattering and will highlight your curves, look no further than the wrap dress. After I tried on this one from Vici Collection (this one is very similar), I remembered why I love this style so much. It’s feminine and flirty, and I love the ruffle details. In the summertime, I typically pair my wrap dress with strappy sandals, but in the cooler months, over-the-knee boots are my jam (I literally wear mine all. the. time).

If you’re in the market for a wrap dress or would like to try the style out for the first time, then look no further!

    Floral Wrap Blouse

Blouse: Who What Wear for Target | Jeans: Abercrombie | Shoes: Altar’d State via Discount Fashion Warehouse | Bag: Old Navy

I was on a shopping ban for the majority of August. Although, full transparency: I did slip up a few times. It was harder than I thought it would be.

One of those slip up purchases was this floral wrap blouse. It’s from the Who What Wear collection at Target, and if you know anything about this collection, you know it’s good. Too good. And I’m weak. So, here we are. Also, while we’re on the subject, I’ll take this, this and this next.Who What Wear Floral Wrap Blouse | Natalie Was Here | Lifestyle Blog Who What Wear Floral Wrap Blouse | Natalie Was Here | Lifestyle Blog Who What Wear Floral Wrap Blouse | Natalie Was Here | Lifestyle Blog

August Challenge: Giving Up Shopping in Favor of Shopping My Own Closet

I’ll be honest, guys. I spent too much money this past weekend on new clothes and I still can’t shake the overwhelming feeling of guilt. But, the shirt was on sale for 75% off! It’s such a steal. Consuming for the sake of consumption. It’s a problem.

Do you ever buy something just because it’s on sale? Guilty. Now, ask yourself — would you still buy it if it were full price? Maybe you would, but probably not.

I’ll be the first to admit to you that blogging and social media do not help with this problem. Instagram, I’m looking at you. It’s all about which outfit will fit the feed, which coffee shop has the best aesthetic, which flowers look the best with a new bag…

I’m saying this because I’ve definitely had these thoughts before. But, at the end of the day and in the grand scheme of life, it’s really a bunch of crap. And a waste of money.

This month, I want to do things a little differently. I want to create content for my blog and Instagram utilizing items I already own. That means no shopping. No standing in line at a popular coffee shop for the sake of Instagramming an over-priced latte. Nope, none of that.

    THE CHALLENGE

Let’s talk about the details, shall we? I will create new looks every day, utilizing only the items I already own. That means no shopping and no repeats (accessories don’t count). I’ll be sharing my weekly looks here every Friday, so tune in if you’d like!

At the end of the month, I’ll be donating or selling all of the pieces I don’t love. This will help me a) get a better sense of my style and b) clear the clutter.

I hope this challenge will inspire you to dig into your own closet and spend more time (and less money!) creating memorable experiences.

If you decide to embark on this challenge with me, let me know by using #AugustShoppingBan on Instagram. I’d love to see what you come up with :)
