I don’t know what it is, but I’ve always loved having little trips to look forward to. I find excitement in exploring new places and stepping outside of my comfort zone. It’s what life’s all about.

Fritz and I are planning a weekend road trip to Nashville next week and I. can’t. wait. I’m more than ready to soak in the live music, good food and nightlife. And don’t tell Fritz, but I’m fully intending on wearing my cowboy boots daily (just have to dust them off first).

Have you guys been to Nashville? It will be my first time there, so I’d love your recommendations for things to do/places to see/food to eat! Bring it on.

DSC_2000_editedDSC_1997_editedNow let’s talk about this shirt for a quick second. For a girl who loves to travel, it’s only fitting she find a travel-friendly graphic tee. Old Navy always has some great, affordable options, and this one is on sale for less than $15! Less money on clothes = more money for travel. It’s a win, win. DSC_1998_editedAre you guys planning any trips coming up? Be sure to check out my weekend travel tips for inspiration!

5 Spring Trends to Wear Now

    Spring Trends

I don’t know about you, but I am this close to torching every black and gray item in my closet. The weather is finally warming up, and I can’t wait to incorporate florals, pastels and lighter pieces into my spring arsenal.

While I’m dreaming of sundresses and shorts, Courtney PeGan is stocking her store with trendy pieces fit for the upcoming seasons. The owner of Curate Boutique is the definition of a #GIRLBOSS. She has an eye for style, a penchant for all things business and the courage to go after what she wants, even if it means leaving a secure corporate job to pursue her dreams.

“I always knew I wanted to have my own business, but I knew it had to be a labor of love because it’s hard,” Courtney said. “You have to love what you do in order to get out of bed every morning.”

Some might view fashion as a superficial hobby — one that’s centered around consumption and material goods. But for Courtney, fashion is a form of self expression and a way to help a woman feel more beautiful and confident in her own skin.

“One woman came in and she was in the process of losing weight. Still still saw herself as a size 12. I encouraged her to try on the size 8 dress and immediately saw how different she carried herself – it was an incredible feeling,” she said.

Courtney recently traveled to a buyers’ show in Chicago, where she mingled with brand representatives, and selected pieces for Curate’s spring collection. During our interview, I had the chance to browse the racks, catch up on her life as a newlywed, play dress up and talk spring trends.

Here are some of the trends you can start wearing now (yes, please):

    1. Graphic Prints: According to Courtney, these aren’t your standard graphic prints. The new trend of graphic prints is more abstract than what you might be used to. Look no further than this dress. OBSESSED.

    2. Luxe Textures and Fabrics: This season’s trend requires taking it up a notch. This includes rich brocades, tweeds, chiffons, silks, and other luxe fabrics. This gorgeous fringe skirt really brings the wow factor.

    3. Ladylike Details: We’re talking bows, lace and all things girly. If you’re looking for an Easter dress, this lavender one is the perfect combination of sweet and feminine.

    4. Wearable Tech: Designers are incorporating tech into fashion and it’s brilliant. Think purses that actually charge your phone on the go (something I NEED). Courtney has some awesome stuff on the tech front in store for spring, so be sure to stop in!

    5. Jumpsuits & Rompers: Jumpsuits and rompers aren’t new, but the trend doesn’t seem to be going away anytime soon. I love this option. If you’re looking for a way to switch up your look, try layering a tee under your jumpsuit for something casual and unexpected.

Courtney’s trend watch first appeared on Curate’s blog. For more style inspiration, head to

P.S. – I’ll be at Curate tonight from 6-8 p.m. learning how to make gorgeous paper flowers. Grab your girlfriends, and stop by for some shopping, DIYing and light sips and snacks. Get the details here. Hope to see you there!

    Frameri Makes Glasses Cool

DSC_2027_edited[Glasses: Frameri, Magellan in “Cheetah” from the Tidal Collection c/o | Jacket: Target (similar) | Shirt: Target (similar)]

Four eyes. Coke bottles. Nerd. Grade school was rough if you wore glasses. It was bad enough that I was socially awkward already and rocked some seriously crooked bangs. But I still remember when I realized I needed them. I was in the seventh grade and I sat at the back of Ms. Schmidt’s science class. I always squinted when she presented the notes for the day, and borrowed my friend Emily’s glasses just to get by (we magically wore the same prescription).

DSC_2006_editedFast forward to high school and suddenly everyone wanted glasses. Even girls who didn’t wear glasses bought frames to make it look like they wore glasses. Glasses were an overnight sensation. They were actually cool.

And if there’s one company who knows cool eyewear, it’s Frameri. Not only are their frame options sleek and sophisticated — but the lenses are completely customizable. I can simply pop out my current optical lenses and replace my frames with sun lenses if I want to. It’s seriously that easy!

We took everything we love about glasses, kept it, and threw out all the rest. No more changing frames every time your prescription changes or overpaying for glasses. Quality lenses you can buy when you need them, and beautifully crafted frames whenever you want to add them to your collection.

framWant to try Frameri for yourself? Head to their site, browse the selection and pick the ones you love (believe me, there will be more than one). AND Save $50 on your first order! Happy shopping :)

    6 Totes Under $50? Totes.

tote copy2Sorry for all of the radio silence this week, guys. Let’s just say I had an emergency car situation that involved a rogue tree nut and $200. But I’ll save that story for another day.

I’ve been on the hunt for the perfect tote bag for awhile now. I absolutely love this Madewell guy, but with a tighter budget (thank you, car troubles), I can’t swing it just yet. So, I pulled together a list of fashionable totes under $50.

    1. Sole Society // 2. Target // 3. The Iconic // 4. New Look // 5. Modcloth (it’s reversible!) // 6. Target (reversible, too!)

The quality of the faux leather looks expensive and these options are perfect for the beach (1 and 2), work (3 and 4) or weekend (5 and 6).

    How totes awesome is that?!

Mom and Dad, if you’re reading this — I’m not coming home. The sand and sun won me over, and I don’t miss the snow one bit.

Fritz and I spent the past few days visiting my grandma and uncle in Naples, Florida — a place where the sun is always shining, coats don’t exist and people are happiest wearing shorts, sandals and sleeveless tops. It’s always nice to catch up with family. And let’s be real, it doesn’t hurt when 85 degree weather is involved.

DSC_1826_editedAn open shoulder top, pair of cut-off shorts, flat sandals and a panama hat made for the perfect vacation uniform. It might not be this warm at home, but I think we’re in the homestretch, guys!

DSC_1830_editedAnd because this post wouldn’t be complete without a blooper shot. Helloooooo, high winds.DSC_1837_edited
